SDSU's First and Finest

Founded in 1949, the Beta Rho Chapter of Kappa Delta is San Diego State University's first sorority. Over the past 50 years, we have grown in strength and numbers, from a handful of ambitious young women to over a two hundred returning members in the fall of 2007. Our members are women from diverse backgrounds, even from other nations, who are athletes, scholars, musicians, artists, philanthropists and more--all united by our sisterhood and the high ideals of Kappa Delta

Among our proudest achievements: San Diego State Award for Outstanding Alumnae relations, being recognized as a Golden Laurel Chapter (which is the top 90% of chapters nation-wide), winning the Dean's Trophy for Chapter Excellence two years in a row, winning Greek Week three years in a row, donating over 5,000 dollars to Kappa Delta's philanthropies, and a history of awards for President of the Year and Risk Management and Social Programing.

The Kappa Delta house is located in Greek Circle on College Ave. We have occupied our current chapter house longer than any other greek organization at SDSU, providing not only a living space for some members, but also a meeting place and home-away-from- home for all members, and a home to return to for our alumnae. The Kappa Delta house boasts a large chapter room where meetings and recruitment events are held and can comfortably hold more than 120 KDs. Our house which is over 12,000 sq. ft. also has a sundeck, living room, dinning room, recreation room, and kitchen. Lining our chapter room are composite chapter photographs of the hundreds of San Diego Kappa Deltas before us, who also found their home and their sisters in Kappa Delta.

Besides the executive board, Kappa Delta offers many other leadership positions and opportunities. Every girl in the chapter is designated a appointed office which she leads the entire year. Some offices include social chair, sisterhood chair, Rush day chairs, and house manager. So there is never an excuse not to get involved!

Kappa Delta Campus involvement

You dont have to look far to find a KD doing her thing on the SDSU campus. Kappa Deltas are involved in a variety of activities such as the newspaper and dance team, a wide range of SDSU sports including crew and volleyball, and other on campus organizations including: Associated Students, SDSU Ambassadors, Aztec Pride, Freshman Leadership Program, Daily Aztec, Roteract, Panhellenic, Golden Key, Rho Lamda, Order of Omega, American Marketing Association, Delta Sigma Pi Business Faternity, Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol, Enviornmental Business Society, Paradosis, Honor Society, and National Organization for Women. Kappa Deltas are all over campus and continue to be active in the Residence Hall Association, Student Ambassidors, and serve as Community Facilitators. There are few organizations on campus that do not count a Kappa Delta among them.

Academic Interests of Kappa Deltas

At Kappa Delta, our members have a diverse assortment of academic passions, which are apparent in the vast range of majors our sisters are pursuing during their college careers. We embrace this individualism, as it is a great source of pride for Kappa Delta to bring together such strong and driven women. The fields of study pursued by Kappa Deltas include: Political Science, Communicatins, Psychology, Sociology, Art History, Studio Art, History, English, Mathematics, Liberal Studies, Theatre, French, Spanish, Biology, Combined Sciences, Marketing, Journalism, Accounting, Finance, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Information Technology, Public Relations, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Dance, Child Development, Television Film New Media Production, Education, International Business, Graphic Design, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Criminal Justice, and Nursing.
