The kappa Delta "Shamrock" philanthropy is our biggest national philanthropy. It is a project we put on once a year with much preparation and enthusiasm. Shamrock is a way for us to give back to the community and raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America, as well as a Olive Crest, the local children's foster center we proudly support. On the 18th of April, the Beta Rho chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority at San Diego State hosted their inaugural “Shamrock & Run”. Beta Rho’s “Shamrock & Run” was a 5k walk/run held at a local cove by the beautiful beaches of San Diego. Registration for the run was $20, guaranteeing participants a T-shirt, free lunch, and raffle ticket. Participants were able to register online at www.shamrock5k.info, which was created specifically for the event so that registration could be a simple process for the participants. Feel free to check it out! With much publicity throughout the campus and community, over 300 people were able to show their support at our event. We were even able to get reality TV star from this season's Biggest Loser, Stephanie Anderson, to show her support at this event! With total sponsorships, donations, and registration fees, the Beta Rho chapter raised over $8,100! It was a fun-filled day for community members of all ages.

The Girl Scouts
Kappa Delta's all around the world support the Girls Scouts. It is another one of our national philanthropies. Each semester, we at Beta Rho, plan a special event to do with a local troop in our area. We love spending time with the girls and are glad that we can give them a positive image to look up to. This last school year, we were able to host a tie-dye event with a local troop. We also served at this year's Cookie Kick-Off in order to help all San Diego Girl Scout troops get ready for this year's cookie-selling season! In addition, we were honored to be largest volunteer group to help at this year's Operation Thin Mint, in which we shipped off cookies to soldiers in the Middle East.

American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Research Awards

Children's Hospital treats all children's problems and still turns away no one for financial reasons. Kappa Delta is a primary sustaining supporter of the Hospital and Kappa Deltas serve on its governing board.
San Diego Walks
The city of San Diego hosts a variety of charity walks every year and Kappa Delta always signs up. Our chapter donates money to the event and we all lace up our running shoes and spend the day walking or running for a cause. It is always a lot of fun and great bonding time with your sisters.

Greek Week!
Greek week is the greek community's biggest event of the year. All the fraternities and sororities get into groups of about five and compete in team colors. We compete in raising money, playing games, and a lip sync. During this week we have many fun activities such as a big BBQ and attending a Padres game. This week of fun brings the entire greek community together to work toward a goal of helping a local organization. Kappa Delta's teal team has been the greek week 1st place winners for 3 years in a row now!!
